YouTube, and Patreon
Jan 25, 2024
It’s been just over a year since I quit my job with the goal of freelancing and making more time to work on my own creative projects. It has easily been the most creatively fulfilling year of my life.
In April, I started sharing my projects on TikTok and Instagram, where they received much more love and support than I could have hoped for.
For years, I’ve been searching for the right intersection between my engineering and design skills, and in 2023, I found it: I want to design and build products (mostly electronics) that are more fun, playful, and expressive.
I’m incredibly proud of the projects I’ve been able to work on this year like my Speaker Buddies, cameras, and Bubble Scooter. Now that I’ve found my creative outlet, I want to run with it and go bigger and better.
So today, I’m launching a YouTube channel and a Patreon. I want to work on more projects, with bigger ideas, and share them in more detail. On YouTube, I’ll be sharing full build videos covering all the details of how I take my projects from idea to reality. On Patreon, I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes details like things that went wrong, technical challenges, or little stories that didn’t make it into the YouTube video. I’ll also be doing occasional Q&As, depending on the volume of questions.
So, I’m asking you (yes, you!) for your support. If you’re here because you also want design to be more fun and my projects bring you joy, it would mean the world to me if you’d help support my mission by subscribing on Patreon. Any and all support I receive through Patreon will go directly towards making more and better videos. I have a lot of ideas I’m really excited about sharing with you all 🫶
After the Speaker Buddies project, a lot of people asked if I’m going to sell the products I’m designing, and the answer is that it’s totally my dream! I’d love nothing more, but it’s really expensive to start manufacturing electronic devices. I want to work my way up there, but I’m not there yet. However, if you want to help me get there, subscribing to my Patreon is the best way you can support my work.
